An Unusual Court Judgment

with one comment

Court judgments in the American judicial system are well, boring. The form of judgment in the state courts of Florida courts always ends with the following:

“Now therefore, it is
ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED
1. That Plaintiff is entitled to recover the sum of $50 from Defendant.
2. More text here that the parties have fought over at their mutual client’s expense.
All for which let execution issue.”
(if you add the word “forthwith” after issue you get to run to the bank to try to garnish a bank account)
Court decisions in Saudi Arabia are much more grave:
“The Court finds the Defendant to be a corruption upon the Earth and guilty of waging war against God.”
Now that’s a judgment.
(By the way, not all Saudi judgments contain such portentous language.)
