The Detroit Attack, Ben Stein, Ron Paul and the Forbidden Question
Apparently no one but Ron Paul (and I’m guessing Robert Fisk) is asking the question, “Why?” Ben Stein attacked Ron Paul for anti-Semitism for asking the question, but then backed off. Al-Qaeda is not attacking Canada. Or Mexico. Or Paraguay.
Perhaps this question should be asked. The answer might be uncomfortable, but it could lead us to a solution. And as tempting as it is to think that the answer has to do with the Israel/Palestine problem, I think it is actually much, much more complex. George W. Bush’s conjecture, (i.e., “they hate our freedoms”) is clearly an inadequate formulation.
We need to know why, and once we know, to make informed decisions based on the answer.
